Dr. Eileen Forrester Dance Legacy
To celebrate and perpetuate the proud 60-year legacy of Dr. Eileen Pottie
Forrester as a revered Cape Breton dancer, teacher, and worldwide mentor, the Forrester School of Dance announced in November 2025 the establishment of a new annual high school scholarship and eduction program for deserving dancers. The initiative aims to provide financial support to graduating high school dancers who embody the spirit and dedication of its namesake. For its 2026 inaugural year, the program's goal is to award a minimum of two scholarships:
● Highland Dance Scholarship: Partnering with ScotDance Nova Scotia designated for a Nova Scotia Highland Dancer.
● Cape Breton High School Scholarship: In collaboration with Local Cape Breton High Schools, a second scholarship will be available for a graduating student in any genre of dance.
"Never Stop Dancing": A Philosophy and a Campaign
The initial fundraising campaign will be spearheaded by the launch of a very special 60th Anniversary Merchandise Line. This exclusive collection features the school's anniversary logo, traditional sword, and thistles, and most importantly, carries a powerful and inspiring quote from the late mentor which sums up her
outlook on life: "Never Stop Dancing” ~ Mrs. Forrester.
In addition to awarding high school scholarships annually, Dr. Eileen Forrester's dance legacy will also be carried on through the establishment of various community educational events and initiatives to ensure the preservation of Scottish and Celtic dance, particularly Highland Dance. Ongoing fundraising and sponsorship initiatives are currently being planned in 2026 and will take place under the direction of her daughter Shannon. Community members and business wishing to partner, sponsor, and donate to our Dr. Eileen Forrester Legacy Dance Fund may do so through the 'DONATE' tab. Thank-you so much for your support.
