Meet Dan

Hey there!  Welcome foodies!  I’m Dan MacPherson, Owner | Culinary Designer for Kilted Kusine and Food and Beverage Manager at The Forrester Centre. 

Like Shannon, I was born-and-raised in Cape Breton, in particular the Ashby area of Sydney.  Most people recognize and know me from my previous profession as a Police Officer both with the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and Saint John Police force.  After 28 years of policing, I decided to return to the profession and industry I was originally trained in and very passionate about, the Hospitality and Culinary industry.

I have so many creative passions, one of which was leading the execution of the design aspects with Shannon here at The Forrester Centre – and the launch of my commercial kitchen for Kilted Kusine to take possession as the official in-house Food and Beverage provider for this beautiful venue.  It’s been an interesting journey for me!

I’ve always had a LOVE for food, beginning at a very young age and always wanted to open my own commercial kitchen and catering company to bring my signature food creations to life.  Now, I am so fortunate to be doing just that and truly enjoy seeing our guests enjoy food and become excited to try something new.  I’m always encouraging our guests to eat with their mouths and not their minds.  Don’t be afraid to try something new, and sometimes exotic!  Life’s way too short!

At the Forrester Centre, ‘wee’ believe there’s nothing more important than surrounding yourself with your very best and most important people whether it be personal or in business.  It’s all about quality not quantity in creating opportunities and experiences for those sacred relationships to be celebrated and cultivated in a most private and premium way.  From a Food and Beverage perspective, I work closely with our guests to deliver premium culinary dishes to compliment their entire experience.  In addition, I also LOVE hosting Intimate Dining Experiences that are offered from time to time as it allows me to prepare a specialized menu of dishes I am passionate about.   Keep an eye on our ‘events’ tab as they are only offered every now and then!

Other Stuff:

Besides my education and training from Atlantic Police Academy, I am a proud Cape Breton University / Nova Scotia Community College graduate in Hospitality and Culinary Management.   I’m a Police Dog Trainer/Handler - a passion of mine for my entire life, Foodie, Traveller, Lover of fine wine, and enjoyed taking dance class or two at The Forrester School of Dance.
