Welcome to Highland Thistle and Bloom - a luxury floral design boutique located in our private studio at The Forrester Centre on Coxheath Road, Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Owned and operated by Shannon and Dan, Highland Thistle and Bloom came to life in January 2024 when they made the decision to expand their portfolio of boutique wedding and event service offerings and acquire the creative talent of their lead designer Katie Hodder, formally of Family HeirBlooms. Together Katie, Shannon, and Dan will be making all your luxury floral dreams come true!
A wee bit of history:
Shannon and Dan have been curating all-inclusive, small and intimate weddings and corporate events at The Forrester Centre since opening in 2019. When launching into the wedding industry, one of the first vendors they met was Katie from Family HeirBlooms, who instantly fell in love with the atmospheric, romantic and ethereal vibe of our venue. We instantly loved both her and her work and all that she brought to our weddings, special events, and our Forrester dancers who have also come to love the 'Flower Fairy.' Since that time, Katie and Family HeirBlooms became the exclusive vendor for our venue's floral and décor needs.

Fast forward to today, by merging our collective talents, Highland Thistle and Bloom was born. Our company offers a very unique and exclusive brand to clients who want something different and custom. Highland Thistle and Bloom offers private and custom floral design work for Weddings, Funerals, Celebrations of Life, and Corporate Events. Not only are we excited to offer our floral services to our own in-house Forrester wedding and event clients, we are thrilled to offer our services to other clients within the industrial Cape Breton area.

The name Highland Thistle and Bloom is a nod to our strong Scottish roots and new creative floral adventure. Additionally, back in the early days the name 'Highland Thistle' was previously used by the Forrester School of Dance junior dance company, as dance has been a significant part the Forrester family for almost 60 years. A perfect opportunity to re-purpose a name that was special to us.
Highland Thistle and Bloom designs are perfect for clients who enjoy artistic and upscale floral creations with those key customized touches added! Our custom design work is curated using premium florals, textures, elements, and products you won't see anywhere else.
Please note: As a private design studio and wedding venue, consultations are by appointment only.
